Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing attack against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any destruction is not yet known and the American officials has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the government.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with notable success and destroyed a series of missiles," it added.

The statement noted missile fragments landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
