Netflix Casts Ideal Actor for Bentham in One Piece Upcoming Installment

The Secret Organization is geared up to exert significant influence in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, even if the true confrontation won’t take place until the third season, and a beloved, popular member has just been cast.

Netflix announced Tuesday that Cole Escola has joined the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will play Mr. 2. The role can use their power to transform into an identical duplicate of any individual they’ve made contact with with their right hand. The actor, who is gender non-conforming and prefers they/them pronouns, will play a rendition of that role reinterpreted as gender non-binary, instead of as a drag artist, in the real-life adaptation, unlike the source material and cartoon version.

The new cast member will work alongside a number of fresh additions who will portray Baroque Works to the screen, such as head Mr. 0, portrayed by the well-known actor, Sophia Anne Caruso as another operative, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who also joins the cast as King Nefertari Cobra of Alabasta.

Although Bon Clay is a key figure of Baroque Works, the character won’t make their debut One Piece season 3. Given season 2 set to cover the Little Garden arc, this represents a notable change in the schedule of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could signal further changes to the story’s structure.

The actor’s combination of excellent comedic sense and deep sensitivity makes them a perfect fit for the role. In addition to their latest vocal work in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and several accolades for creating and performing in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, highlighting the range they’ll add to one of One Piece’s highly regarded roles.

The streaming service’s real-life One Piece series is set to return for its second season on March 10th, 2026.
